The Dead They Do As They Want

For Something Else in Cairo, February 2026, Artists were invited to make new works under the the topic of Emancipation:

Emancipation is a tricky word. In the search for the free, a poem by Swedish author Eva Ström is the starting point for the installation, titled almost the same as the poem itself. When the recently deceased are free from their material possessions we are left with it, and in this installation we see the clothes belonging to large half-bird-half-human creatures. We do not know how they look or how many versions of time they have travelled through, but we do know their preferred clothes! Let's remember them. 

Installation consists of six pair of large sized clothes items, such as a button-up shirt, denim jeans a dress and tshirts. The tallest piece is approximately 200 cm tall and 150 cm wide, and the smallest is 150 cm tall and 100 cm wide.
